5 ton tractors galore in MI!

If you can get historic plates then you don't have to worry. If you are going with a GVW plate, then it depends on whether or not you are going to pull a trailer. The smallest GVW plate in MI is 24k, which you will be fine when bobtailing. Tractor probably weighs 20-22k, depending on if it has a winch.

If you go with a GVW plate, you can get 3 month, 6 month, or 12 month plates, priced accordingly (with like a $10 additional fee for the lesser plates). If you don't have a trailer YET, you could get a 24k plate for now and renew it later for the addition of a trailer.
