We are very careful about private property. We got stopped on the way up to "forked River Mountain", that is a public road. It has been probably 6 years now, but at that time we were told that unless it was a Forest Service Road it was off limits to all motor vehicles. The forest service roads you could drive a Ford Escort down, not much fun in that

It is the same deal here, no motor vehicles on any of the Daniel Boone National Forest roads; most of them here are gated though so it is pretty easy to tell what you are allowed to drive on and not.
