The flow? How to tune it up? How to tell if it is firing? How to time it? Installation? How to get them out?

OK, what you need is an engine manual for the 800 series.
I was fortunate enough to have a Korea/ Nam era mt mechanic for a neighbor. he had all of the books.
Now he is gone, and so are the books, I wish I could give you the gov. publication number for the good engine manual for the 250 .
some one please help .

I have an 855 Cummins manual I can scan pages from that will give you tune up specs...how to set the valves and injectors. The manual also has some troubleshooting in it...how to find a miss, etc. It is NOT a military manual, but it shows the 855 engine. If you are interested, PM me. $15 will cover the manual and shipping.
