Land Train???
Ok, I think this ok to post, as it fits the unusual type vehicle for auction. I also don't think any of us are going to be bidding on it given it's size etc.
Land Train 1962 : eBay Motors (item 300418438421 end time Apr-23-10 09:58:26 PDT)
This might be the most amazing MV I've ever seen.

Just saw that auction posted over on the ATHS forums. That is a cool setup but would hate to see how much room it would need to make a turn. Don't know if it will be easy to get it running or not as it sounds like it only has the control unit and three trailers, no power units.
I remember seeing that beast sitting there when I was stationed at Eielson AFB in the early 90's. I hope who ever gets it restores it and puts it in a museum or some other display. There is a transportation museum about 30 miles north of Anchorage, but I don't know if they have enough room for something that size.

There was one in a junk yard in Yuma, AR many years ago. I talked to the owner and he had a picture of the vehicle crossing a sand dune when it was being tested.
He bought the thing for pennies on the dollar.....the whole thing was mostly aluminum and one of the guys on the yard said it was a cash cow.....anytime they needed quick money they carved up one of the sections.
The control car was pretty cool and it was powered by a turbine engine turning an electric genny...each wheel was powered by it's own electric motor.
Sad to see that at least one of them was not preserved whole.
