M54s in Vietnam
Asking for a friend who is building a model. Did the cargo M54s that served in Nam have head boards? That would be at the front of the bed, behind the cab. I have looked at some photos and can see the slat-board sides but there isn't enough detail to see if it's the same at the front. I'm assuming the M54 looks like the deuce, slatted headboard with a cut-out for the rear cab window, but want to be sure as this guy wants to do a proper job.
Thanks!

523rd did when we were out of Cha Rang valley, but when they moved up north around Danang some guys ran them without---some even ran with just those little side boards on the sides in front but not on the drop sides and no headboard--so he can probably be correct any way he wants to run it------Driver

Yep a bad day for sure, 2 flats and she may leak a bit of fuel....... BUT what would worry me is the hole that is dead center at the star on the door!!!! I would hope that the added door armor went all the way to the bottom.

Looks like 3 flats and another hole in the door down and to the right of the star.
