I know some of you are kicking around buying one of these 931/932/936's coming up, so I thought I would tell you how things went for me. My last GL purchase of a 931A2 at Polk was a disaster in every way, so I was especially gun-shy about another fiasco. I will have to say this time I came out smelling like a rose. The videos that GL are posting tell the story. I picked one that was advertised to run and stop, because I knew I needed to be able to have a trucker drive it on a step deck trailer ("Buyer Load"). Next I looked carefully for signs of a rebuild. GL has mentioned this in a few listings, but not all by any means. In the videos, you will see "CARC 200X" on the dashboard, this indicates that the truck was overhauled around that date. Lastly, the sealed bid amount. I knew the scrappers were placing blanket bids of roughly $2200 on the tractors, so I would have to exceed that to score. I bid right over $3000 and was successful. MS Tax and GL fees put me at $3500. Next, the haul. It is a 500 mile recovery for me, so driving it home was not an option. My trusted transportation broker, Walker, (truckingdeals@yahoo.com) was able to get me a $1.50 a mile rate. The trucker showed, the RSMS boys slaved my truck off, and he was able to load up using Shelby's loading ramp. The next morning he was waiting to be unloaded here at my yard. In a nutshell, this truck is the nicest, best operating unit I have ever seen come from DRMO. You guys need to jump in and save these from the scrappers!!!

How about "I was inmate of the month at Fort Leavenworth" .

First off, Congratulations!
Technically, all this means is that the truck was repainted at that time. I've seen lots of trucks with "paint rebuilds" that weren't actually overhauled, so don't base it soley on the CARC date...
those are nice looking trucks.. just dont have a big enough use for a tractor to replace my new like 818
Tim,
Speaking from personal experience, sell the M818 and buy an M931. These trucks are exponentially better then the M818's (I have 4 M818's and 3 M931's). They drive better, they're quieter in the cab, the transmission is GREAT, and overall are better trucks.
Oh, and nearly all of them have new, or like new, Goodyear 11.00x20 radial tires!
