Default Transporting a 5-ton 200 miles from base

I sometimes get an itch to get a 5 ton or an M35, with some business justification also (moving surplus equipment, as my business is selling industrial surplus).

The nearest base is Sparta, WI, and I am near Chicago, which is about 3.5 hour drive at the speed limit.

If, hypothetically, I win a 5 ton or an M35, I probably need to have it towed/trailered to my location, right?

What is the ballpark price for such a service and what sort of business should I look up in Yellow Pages or online?

Thanks

A deuce can be hauled on a gooseneck pulled by a big dually......look for a "Hotshot" rig that operates in your area.

A 5 ton cargo would prob have to be shipped on a lowboy behind a Class 8 tractor to be legal.

There should be a truck broker near you that handles all sorts of loads.

The big issue is working around GL's pickup schedule.......finding someone who is experienced in picking up/delivering at a military base is a little harder.

There may be a SS member close by that can help you out like I do for folks at Redstone here in AL.

Sparta is a good location, they sell a lot of trucks there. I would budget $2 per mile one way.

BTW, thanks for hosting all those manuals online. I really appreciate it.

That's not so bad. I will ask here if I win one.

Re: manuals. I appreciate your thanks. Every dollar that I save someone by providing a free manual, is money saved from the PDF selling mafia. Please link to my website so that my manuals rank highly in search engines.

As always, feel free to repost any TM manuals that you download from me. I consider them to be public domain.
