Yeah, I found one on a site that sells all kinds of things. Local to me. I thought these were called something else, like FMTV or something like that....
Same animal? I Googled the name and found one, and it looks like a FMTV.

Either way, it sounds like it would be a neat truck to have.
Bet ya need a CDL for it, right?
Just joking, but webbed foot civy is coming into play here.. all fun intended, There about thirty bagazzillion threads on cdl's and no it does not, unless the state u live in says so and it is used for commerce, but if driven in most states by non commerce person for personal use its a big no , no cdl, a question like that can make a thread go on for days

Well, if this is newer 5 ton, wouldn't it have air brakes, therefore needed a CDL? And being over a certain weight, also needing a CDL?
I'm guessing it's newer because it has "ABS brakes air brakes new tires 39,000 miles power stearing Cummings deisel 250 HP"
Yeah, copied right out of the listing... I can't spell that bad on purpose...
Washington State is fussy about almost anything...

"1985 am general military truck 5 ton drop down cargo truck with side rails hard top cab heat ABS brakes air brakes new tires 39,000 miles power stearing Cummings deisel 250 HP Allison tra nsfer 2 speed transfer case" $13,500
Harold, Based on the description in the add we know it's a 939 series cargo. He does not list a winch. Now we have it narrowed down to a 923A0/1 based on the engine type and drop sides.. I think the XLWB cargo only has a drop side.
This ad was posted just a day after the last round of trucks came off auction at JBLM.
If you are serious about spending that kind of $ on a 5 ton, please send me a PM first!!

I suppose the real question was, am I looking at what I think I'm looking at? Is it a conventional or a cabover design?
A 5 ton is a little too much truck for my needs, or wants. I just thought the naming was weird as well.
Yeah, I emailed the guy. No pictures yet...
If I had that kind of green (LOL), I'd pay my own truck off first.
