Though not on BobH's list, why not a civy day cabber. Something similar to Clint's Blue Ford he had at the trail ride the past couple of years. You could paint it up blue and call it an Air Force tractor.

Find yourself an M52A2. They are cool trucks, are kind of rare these days, and have a nice sounding turbo! Plus, they would have been correct for the period, too. Everyone and their brother has an M818. Go with the multifuel...

M52's do have a cool factor, had one behind me one time..........
