altermate tranny for m920?
I was on the gov liquidation site and saw some allison automatics for m915, m916, m920, etc. I haven't seen any of those units for sale with allisons.
I found a decent m917 dump truck with a bad tranny (7155) and didn't know if
an allison was an option for that unit. Just wondered if anyone had knowledge
of this scenario.
Thanks for any info,
Parker

the 7155 is an OD tranny, the allisons you are looking at are not, any commercial truck tranny will go in with some modification to the firewall for shift linkage.

The truck I'm looking at reportedly has a bad tranny. putting
a clutch in will be quite a job, so I'm exploring options.
No one seems to know much about the 7155's.

Well if you find out the problem is the shift manifold ( which is about 90% to 95% the problem with the Cat 7155 trans ) I can rebuild them.

That's a good thing to know, Even if I don't pick this M917 up I might have to
rebuild the shift manifold in my M920 some time. Any suggestions on how to keep
my shift manifold trouble free?
