Default Additives reccomended to use with Waste Oil?

Just curious - I've been running waste (very clean) modern transformer oil with success in my M35a2 Multi at a mix of about 50% with commercial diesel - The oil is very clean, sometimes just clear, colorless and filtered but is a little thicker than diesel - it seems to run great though.

Do you folks that run waste oils use any additives like power service regularly - I use it on occasion, but not every tank - Just wondering if I should be using additives/cleaners/etc. with waste oil to keep it healthy?

Thanks for any info you can offer.

You can thin it a little with gasoline. It sometimes helps to do that so the mix is a little thinner. I use the power service in the silver bottle. I have found that if you buy the larger bottle at Walmart its cheaper then the auto parts stores for the same size and you dont have to buy as often since you buying more. I run a lot of wmo and even more wvo so I am concerned about keeping it clean so I use the power service alot since the wvo is kind of sticky.

x-ray is using mineral oil that is used in transformers. Its simply cooling oil and does not circulate like oil in a car and have wast products built up in it. It remains nice and clean.

I have been mixing about 25 gallons of wmo or wvo with 15 gallons of diesel ad 5 gallons of gasoline. I then add some of the powerservice. This is not an exact science and I use what I have at home. Sometimes a little more diesel, sometimes a little more gas. Also cold weather sometimes dictates me changing the mix to more diesel.

Thanks for the info. I have contemplated running a mix. I know the WVO has more of a tendency to congeal. But i've got all kinds of access to it.

You mix WVO with Diesel in an unheated tank? I read somewhere that when WVO and Diesel mix there is a chemical reaction that causes severe wax build up that could cripple an entire fuel system. Jim

Huh, Ive been running it for a year now in two trucks with no problems. Others have as well. To get some more insight look up wreckermans recipie for it. He uses a mix very successfully.

Yamabro, I have had no problems with the congealing issue as long as you stay away from hygrodginated oil (sp ?). I run clean, filtered soybean oil. Stay away from the hydroginated stuff, it can congeal and thicken and clump.
