Default Diesel generator on WMO?

My question is simple can the diesel military gens run on WMO? Has anyone here tried it, I don't see why they wouldn't most of them are older style engines.

I asked down in the Genset section if there were any
multi fuel gens, other than the tri fuel,no is what I was
told, they are standard diesel units.I believe the WMO
is to thick, there would be little in savings by trying to
thin it out with diesel and gummed up parts.

yes but most standard diesels will run on things like ATF and a mix of WMO, I was just wondering if anyone has done it?

It may very well run on it, but most of us here don't want to try it. The generator typically is used for back-up emergency power. Do you really wanna be the one to find out that the WMO gums up your IP or some other component and makes a back-up piece of equipment useless as a back-up?

I have seen the LDT engine in a genset, but I think it was a 120kw unit.
I wouldn't try it unless I had TWO of them. As stated, they are backup power, and I want/NEED that to be reliable.

You can check out the following links. These are not Military surplus, but there are a bunch for sale and several people are running them on WMO.

Have run Bio and used Oil and Atf... There are some things that you have to do first..

1 I filter it with a t-shirt into a barrel 45 Gal +10 Gal of ag Dsl. Mix really well
2. Allow to sit for atleast 2 days this will save your filters. "make sure your pump is atleast 3inches from the bottom.
3. I heat the fule to aprox 140 and run it through a good Fule filter to a clean 55 Gal drum or fule tank we use this as a staging area.

As a note heating the fule is great since it will run through your lines a lot easier..

Hope this helps .. Used to run this in an aol 2000 ford 7.3 as will ran like a top...

Couldn't one just take a Deuce engine and connect it to
a generator?

Yes, that is what I said when there was an LDT powered genset.
It is a large genset though. At 120kw+, that is a LOT of power!
