I have installed a 12 volt civilian distributor in my 1967 m715. I'm currently running it off of a 12/24 volt converter. I'd rather run it off 24 volts because if my converter goes down so does the engine. My question is - Can I run 24 volts through a external resistor to a 12 volt coil with internal resistor? My thinking being that a external resistor on a 12 volt system reduces voltage to the coil to 6 volts ( or half) so it would reduce 24 volts to 12. Am I wrong?
