What is the Rubber hose,

[FONT=&quot]What is the Rubber hose, about 1 ½” wide that is on the right side of the engine next to the oil filter” if your in front of it” that goes from the bottom of the block up to the air filter? It has some kind of connection tube on it about ¼ ” wide that connects to a small pipe that looks like it runs back to the transmission? Where the small connection is, is tearing out of the rubber hose. [/FONT]

That is the crankcase vent. The small tube on the side is for the hookup of all the vent lines, axle, transfer, transmission, etc

Warthog nailed it. The hose is on driver side of engine. Its rotten and time to replace it. While your at it replace the oil line from passenger side of engine block to rear of the head ! Its bad too i bet.....
