Is the $400 deal a complete winch setup or just the winch itself? Just the winch commonly sells for $400 or less. A complete setup goes for $1,000-$1500.

A search for cable rating, cable load rating, etc, will give you a days Worth of reading.
Do you really need to know the winch cable rating? or should you have simply not posted a direct link to an active Clist ad, then simply changed your post and now we will all needlessly try to answer a question that does not matter to you?
But I would like to know what the cable on the winch is rated for,,,what would break first, the cable or the winch?
The winch they put on the m35a3
The shear pin had better give before the cable. I have seen pics of people that had bolts instead of shear pins and the winch case gave out and cracked before the cable. If the cable is in good working order (no kinks or badly frayed areas) you will never break the cable. (if you're using the winch properly, not being stupid with it)
