Our SWAT team is looking for a scrap V 150 door or the specs on the armor to do some ballistic tests. We have V-150 and they want to know what it will really stop. the books say 7.62 direct hits but out here in hunting country there are some big rifles. thanks for the help.
Best bet might be to make "official" contact with Textron Marine and Land Systems (who took over Cad. Gage) and see what they tell you, or if they can provide an item for you to shoot. That way you would get the most accurate information.
I have a few spare gun port covers but would rather see them used in someones restoration. You could use one of your own gun port covers, or the rear engine hatch(roof). It can be repaired afterward, or if you don't expect aircraft attack, replaced with 1/4-1/2" mild steel.
Yep you can use the cooling intake shield. (against molotov cocktails). mount it at 20 or 30 degrees from vertical if you need to show what it will hold up against. You can suggest they put on some spall liners inside if they think they will be receiving steel core ammo impact. Textron sold the Turkish police 3/8's armor upgrade and spall liners because of concern from Russian 5.45mm AP ammo. We were able to get some penetration of a V-150 drivers hatch at 100 yards with US M855 (green tip) ammo in 1997. Any thing closer than 100 yards did not penetrate and more than 150 yards also did not penetrate.
They can use spall liners from the pannels they use on police car doors. I can't recall the company that markets them. But kevlar blast blankets can also be used to make the operators feel a little bit safer.
