Well since spring is just around the corner(it IS actually gonna show up,right?) it's time to think about the better-half's project.
Question:Are the 1942 G506 (1 1/2TON Chevy)WWII truck wheels and tires the same, ie-interchangeable, with the CCKW 2 1/2 ton GMC (1/43)?
The chevy we have has the wrong type of wheels but we may be getting a badly beat cckw for parts. It has a complete set of wheels with very BAD rubber. I understand the 7.50/20 tires are really spendy--would 8.25/20 work on the cckw rims?How about 9.00/20 Deuce wheels -tires,any thoughts?
Would be sweet if these work,then I only gotta come up with the other 7 trillion$ worth of other goodies to make this project go.

Tires//tubes/flaps are about $250 per rim. If your tube and flap is good reuse them. If you *GOTTA* have the NDTs, then you are gonna pay out the nose. CCKWs used 'regular' tread tires all the time. They are not wrong, and there are plenty of WWII pics showing 'street' tires on all trucks.

The tire you are looking to use is a bit taller.. here is what I found on the stovebolts.com site:

" For the Big Bolts, most truck tire centers or Ag stores (like Southern States, Agri-Supply, etc.) can find you modern tubed tires to fit. 7.50X20 is a normal size. 8.25X20 can often be used although with a slight decrease in turning radius because the rear edge of the front tire will rub the springs in a hard turn, most people don’t consider this a problem. Just remember to check what kind of wheels you have -- 2-piece locking rim or 3-piece rims are okay. Center split 2-piece wheels are not. Most big truck or Ag tire facilities will have people knowledgeable and willing to work on your multi-piece rims as long as they are not the center splits. Don't even bother trying one of the chain tire retail outlets. "

Chevy wheels and Jimmy wheels are the same. People put 9.00-20's on CCKWs, but it looks a little off.

Yep, the rear wheels on the project Chevy are the type with the broad band in the middle that joins the two halves together--not original and definately dangerous. The type the tire shops won't touch.Fronts look like the "stock" ones so there should be enough wheels along with those from the cckw.We may use the 270 and 5speed trans from the cckw--it wouldn't be truly original but yet a fair compromise to build something a little faster for daily driving and looks more realistic than the current 327 v-8 "bubba" installed.
