That info is very widely known and easily found. If you are worried about it change your ignition or door locks to a different one.

Your right...
I'm not worried that this information is known in our circles. And in "our circles", I mean maybe, team members or members, at least to see this particular thread. Possibly we could lock out the threads that have the code in it.
I don’t know just thinking a little...
I'm more worried about the random teenager online doing a search for a "M1009". Because, He thinks they are cool and really wants to buy one. Oh, and by the way, his neighbor down the street has one.
I don’t know just thinking a little...
I guess I'll just change out my ignition key. Better safe than sorry.
I really didn't know this key and code number was so known to the general public. Sorry for the question.

The key code was actually on the back of the GA rally t-shirts from 08.

That’s funny... The more I think I know, the more I find out I don’t know S-- . You know.
What’s the cost to have the cylinders changed or re-keyed?

It's been several years since i've changed one, but I think 8-10$ at any auto parts store.

We were at an event with our M1009 and some one said that their CUCV used the same key in that "I can borrow your truck" kind of tone, and I commented no you can't, we had to replace our lock core because the old one locked up and wouldn't work anymore.

(765)344-2906 Online Catalog: GMCPauls Truck Parts as of 10/07/'05 door locks are very easey but brite finish (must paint) the steering lock instalation is a challenge requiring 2 special tools or ingenuity and TLforce.

I pick up the 1031 on Dec 01 from Camp Beauregard, and yet to find someone locally who can cut one from code. I am attempting the last avenue without having to go 60 miles. Just amazed at the shortage of true locksmiths! They either will copy one or want to replace the whole lock.
