Fuel Filter change
Changed the Fuel Filters yesterday, all 3, and it only took about
1 1/2 hrs. But that was after reading the TM's and searching this fantastic site to get tips from the experienced pros. Really appreciate all the expertise.
The filter change would have gone much quicker but the primary drain cock was all clogged up, and after getting that flowing, I managed to lose it temporarily. I did most of the work out on the driveway, but took the drain cock to the workbench to clear it. Then next thing I know - it's gone. The old eyes aren't what they used to be, and all I could imagine is that I accidentally kicked into the leaves along the driveway. Finally located it under a rag, which BTW, I thought I had looked under sevaral times.
Turned on the power, bled the lines (no air bubbles), cranked her up, bled again (no air bubbles), and idled her for several minutes - no leaks.
Now, 2 questions, Is it typical to get no air bubbles when bleeding fuel lines after a complete filter change?
I only run diesel, and there was only a little bit of junk in the primary fuel filter. The other filters looked clean. So, how often is it necessary to change the filters?
Now all i need to do is grease again.
Thanks,

I was wondering about air in the lines too. Did you pull the whole thing or just the canister?

Bubbles? I just flipped the master switch, bleed the secondaries then the primary. Fired up the truck and checked for leaks. Found none and went on my way.
I also cleaned my drain cocks and excersied them.

You guys make it sound soo easy! Guess I should quit putting off this project.
Found a fuel filter head on Ebay and plan on converting the primary fuel filter to a spin on as well just purchasing a set of adapters to convert to spin on oil filters from westfolk. Gotta start somewhere I guess. Thanks!
