Default ? about indentifying rockwell axles

My buddy has a lot of rockwell axles (both fronts and rears) sitting in his yard, but we don't know where to look on the exle for indentification. Where should we look? What models of rockwell axles did the military use? If they end up being ex-mil axles he would prolly end up selling all but a pair of them.

There are 4 boxes to use in the defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, ammo. Use in that order. Starting now.

does the tag reside in the same spot on both front and rear axles?

It is no biggie, as the model numbers are relatively unimportant. One does not buy parts from any gear house for these trucks, it would be utterly expensive. There are more surplus houses and parts than you can imagine.

If it has 6 lugs, it is from a G742 series duece. 6.722:1 ratio. If it has ten lugs, it is from a G744 series 5-ton. 6.44:1 ratio usually. Some rare missile carrier trucks used a 10.5:1 reduction, but thoses are are rare as hens' teeth, and a twist of the flange will tell you easily.
