Default Low Coolant / thermostat broken?

The 3-53 of my goat doesnīt reach normal operating temperature...
If I push em to the limit the temperature will go up to 140° and it should be 180° - 200°.
So I opened the thermostat housing and i found the thermostat and another part.
Iīm not shure if it belongs to the thermostat or if it is an old part that has been lost during a repair?
The part might belong to the thermostat. In this case it will close an channel / drain in the back of the thermostat housing when the thermostat opens. In this case the hub / stroke will be max. 0.3 inch until the plate closes the drain and the thermostat stops to open... is that enough?
On the other hand the thermostat that is showing in the manual doesnīt look like my thermostat AND the small plate...
Does anyone have pictures of the Goat thermostat? Does anyone know if these both parts belong together?

Yes they do belong together. The disc is part of the stat. There are 2 loops in a diesel cooling system, block or bypass loop and radiator loop. When the engine is cold, the coolant is pushed through the block loop and does not go through the radiaror...some part of the circulating coolant goes back to the sruge tank via the vent lines and re enters the system through the fill line, this creates a positive flow and pressure on the eye of the w/p. As the engine warms, the stat opens. The disc lookin' thing on the end of the stat closes the block loop off so the coolant is forced through the radiator into the radiator loop. That is the reason you can't take a stat out of an overheating diesel. The hot coolant will actually just bypass the radiator and just go throught the block only...the block loop is the path of least resistance.

The disc needs to be in the correct spot. If your repair put it so it isn't covering the bypass completely, you will have the same issue. As for the smoke, white/grey can be cold operation, low fuel pressure, air in the system. black can be an air flow restriction or the injectors in need of adjusting.

In the meantime I changed the thermostat. The engine temperature reaches 180°-190° F.
I also did the injector timing adjustment (no change needed)
I adjusted the valve clearance (they have been a little to loose)
and I adjusted the injector rack control lever (has been nearly ok).
I also checked the blower, itīs working fine.

Than I took a ride, about 50mls on the highway, but the engine still smokes black.

I am thinking Injectors, overfueling? can you get DD 53 injectors there? love the sound of Detriot. I have a buddy has one shoved into a M-37 you can hear him coming from 1.5 away lol

Question

Of course, I can get injectors for the DD 3-53 in Germany, but one will cost $ 150!
My injectors (N45) are nearly new, they got only 600 mls...
