Default Another Runflat Question

I hope someone can help, as i have found bits and pieces of info I need on the site.

I ordered 6 tires, rims and runflats. Due to a shipping error, I got 6 tires and two rims with 2 mag runflats. The guy I purchased them from made it right and sent me 4 more rims and 4 rubber runflats.

I am putting these on a highly modified 3/4 ton 67 Bronco.

Here is the issue. I am reading that the radial tires can't be placed on the 8 bolt beadlock rims. Why? Is it just the load rating? Since load rating is not an issue for me, can I use them?

Which is better, the mag or rubber runflat? How does the rubber also act as a beadlock when they are so thin?

Please help!!!

Tony

You should not put radials on 8 bolt rims-it has to do with the clamping force required (36" tires go on 8 lug and 37 inch tires go on 12 bolt) I have seen it done for trail use only. I cut down both my rubber and magnesium runflats to just retain the beadlock function. I prefer one piece rubber beadlocks, but have used them both with good results. If you stay with stock HMMWV tire/wheel combo's-rememebr to apply the correct lubricant.

Tony, the issue is 2-fold. 1) the lip of an 8-bolt wheel is designed for a bias-ply tire and will not properly secure a radial tire. 2) the wheel is rated for something like 30 psi max. Radial tires typically run up to so psi.
