M-37 bed holes. What are they for?
The M-37s I've seen, including mine, have a number of holes that appear to be factory, but I have yet to see anything mounted in several of them. First, on the passenger side is a square tube, identical to the recepticles for the side board stakes, but it extends all the way up to the bed lip, so you can't access it from the top. However, there are 2 vertically situated pre-threaded holes in this tube. I have no idea what may have gone there? Then, just forward and above each wheel well, are a set of horizontally situated holes that are about 4.5" apart. These aren't pre-threaded but just go through the side of the bed. Then, behind the wheel well, and just forward of the rear side reflector, are 2 similar holes. Lastly, at the top right corner of the passenger side bed, just to the rear of the first stake tube, is a single hole. I'd love to know what all these are for and if anyone has mounted something interesting in these. Thanks!

Well, the first set of threaded holes you mentioned are for mounting the fording stack, the second set that are not threaded are for a tie down of sorts, all of mine have a piece of flat steel shaped into a handle at these points,I also believe these are for fording stack storage. The last one Is a mystery as I can't picture it in my head right now,I'l have to look at one of my trucks tomorrow.

Are the handle devices available anyplace? I'd love to try to find some. The fording stack makes perfect sense. Thanks a bunch.

You may want to check over at the G741.org site to see if anyone has any. Elsewise, you may also check with any of the dealers that have M37 parts like Midwest Military, Sid Beck, AB Linn, VPW to name a few.
The odd hole on the front right of the box may be from the knockout for the antenna on that side.
