My uncle picked up this Jeep - but we are both at a loss as to what the tube and circular "port" might be for . . . . anyone know?

Well,the circular port is the cavity for the slave cable attaching point,the tube itself looks to be an added on something or other,not stock I am thinking.

That tube looks to me like an authentic, simulated, historic, repoduction, offical, jerry rigged,

flag pole holder for use during parades.
