Default Carter YS Carb Rebuild

I have a M38A1 and are currently rebuilding the carb. I did not notice before disassembly that there were two different size springs on the accelerator pumps. Could anyone help?

I just bought a HyGrade carb kit, for a yf carb. What brand kit and # did you get? I think mine has an exploded view and all the parts used in various configurations.

I'm not sure who made the kit. I purchased it from Beach Wood Canvas in NJ. It is for a Carter 950 YS

I can scan the exploded view for you. I'll post it here later tonight. I think I remember the accelerator pump shaft had (starting at the bottom) a long spring then a clip, then it went through the metal plate thingy, then on top of that, 2 short spring and a clip holding them in place. That is what I think I recall(probably incorrect somehow). I will post the sheet later.

I'm sorry, the pic I posted is a YF, not a YS carb kit. I missed that. I sent another email, please disregard. Sorry, I was confused!

Default Carter ys

Hy Guys,

I'm reparing a carter ys carb.
But there's no exploded view of the carb, so i'm not sure how al the parts are ment to go in.
Does anybody have an exploded view or something like it for me?

Greetings from Holland.

Greetings from Holland.
See illustration above.

The YS637S used on the M38 is covered in the TM 9-1826A dated Dec 1952. A word of caution if you use this manual the illustration of the entire carb (blow-up) has one of the diaphram springs on the wrong side of the diaphram. We have a copy of this manual loaded on our web site www.willysmjeeps.com

If you are rebuilding a YS950S used on the M38A1 and M170 the same manual will work but you will need the specs below:
