I just bought a 58 Willys CJ5 (?) that has a hole in the starbord side of the hood. I figure it had a fording kit at one time but can't find ANY pictures. Can someone help?
Are you sure your Jeep is a CJ 5? It appears to have battery box on the passenger side of the cowl between the hood and windshield. It could very well be a M38A1 or have parts from one. You will need to submit more pictures to properly identify it.
Yep M38a1 hood and thats a battery box. More Pictures please

Its a CJ-5. Most of the short hood jeeps had the fording kit notch with a plate installed. Lots of the early CJs also had that battery box. Lots of other tell tales that indicate this to be a CJ not an M38A1.

I had a 57 CJ-5 in the early 60's and the place where the M38A1 battery box is located is spot welded closed and the glove box was located under it. Also the ford plate was spot welded in place.
