Default M725 question

New to the M725. I have a complete M725 without the engine. Is there a simple way to mate the original T98 to an more available engine? I have a 1972 AMC 258 and bellhousing and 3 speed. I have read that the original T98 input shaft will not mate to any AMC Jeep engine. Is there an input shaft change I can make?
Thanks
Jay

Or, since the T-case is divorced, you could drop in ANY motor and trans. Then make a custom driveshaft to connect to the t-case.

While you can drop in any transmission and change the middle shaft, your emergency brake and transfer case levers are mounted on the transmission. You will need to fab a new mount for those as well. I always thought the transfer case levers and robust emergency brake lever were an important addition to the overall truck. They just do not look right with a little chrome transfer case lever sticking out of the floor. 8^) Glen

Bob, Those two are beautiful! Our local Sheriff's office had a beautiful black K9 and she was some kind of fast! I was one of the few that she liked right off. She was hyper protective and very good on drugs.

Back when I had my M715 I did not have the boys. I did have my crazy girl and she loved that truck. She would jump up in the bed and stand in the right front corner of the box. I used to be guilty of watching the wind blow her coat around way too much, it was beautiful. She is an old girl now and has really slowed down. I did not think I would ever see the day.

I thought I was a glutton for punishment with three of these active dogs, I cannot imagine how much attention six would require. My two boys are pretty dominant and we had some fighting problems for a while. Nothing permanent, but they both had their coats ruffled a few times.

I always thought a M725 would be a great dog truck, I worry about somebody getting bitten, walking up on my older male. That is his truck and he is pretty protective of it and his people. Trespassers beware... The snow dog is Missy in her younger years and that is her playing snagging games on the couch, the other dog is the household protection unit, Sir...

My M1009 works pretty good but the boys are too big to sit in the bucket, the ambulances are looking better all the time. Glen
