I'm going to attempt this but I don't fully understand the difference between a serial number, a VIN and a registration number. I'll attach pictures of my data plates.
a. serial # 21785
b registration # 04H13471
c. NSN # 2320000771616
d. bought at Boone National Guard Center, Frankfort, KY (it's still there)
e. I don't know any bumper numbers
Copied from OP for my reference:
a. Serial Number (VIN number) ------without dashes or spaces (0123456789 correct, 0123-456789 incorrect)
b. Registration Number -----also without dashes
c. NSN without dashes -----uh, one more time, without dashes
d. Where you bought it
e. Bumper numbers if you can legibly read them

Hoping the VIN was reported correctly b/c I just rec'd my SF97 and ins. policy with that VIN#. If not, YIKES!
I'll get your vehicle info later but say YIKES. I have this posted in many places. The VIN = serial number only. The GL reported vin is inaccurate and includes the registration number and serial number combined. There is no direct correlation between a military registration number and civilian. It is worthless except for personal historical reasons.
Also you used an O (oscar) instead of a 0 (zero) in your post here. That is a second no-no. The military does not use O and I in registration numbers and serial numbers. It's always a 0 (zero) or 1 (one).
Will they give you a rash of crap over this issue, probably not. In court you could prove the point of what happened but in reality vin = only the serial number.

At this point I wonder if I am better off to try to get the SF97 changed or to try and get my VIN verification done by an LEO and convince him the VIN is both numbers. One or the other has to match to get my state title. Suggestions, anyone?
You can send the SF97 back for a correction. I've done this before.

Carnac,
Thanks for the fast response, and please forgive my lack of knowledge. I was wondering what is the unit ident code and is there a way to break it down or research it? Thanks again

Probably not. I found on the net a 9th MP out of the PA Army National Guard out of Johnstown PA with that UIC. Normally they aren't easy to find on the net if they aren't already on the info I post. This maybe the unit the vehicle was with but I would not bet the farm on it. All it takes is for private snuffy to fat finger a button wrong the it throws the who outcome out of whack. Once that happens it is virtually impossible to find the correct info.
