As it was a monsoon out once again here in GA - got started on my top rack - got the base built.
NEVER loan tools was a golden rule of mine - but the guy knew the Miller welder I had and figured he knew what he was doing for the afternoon - you guessed right -back to my golden rule.
Would have gotten farther if is was not for fixing it.
6x4 ft is the dimension - going 8 inches high on this one as well without the grating on the sides - will just make railings with tie downs for a tarp - now that the welder is back working with parts that need to be ordered (guess at who's expense) should have it finished tomorrow night minus paint.
That little 6th voice was telling me the whole time not to loan it.
Anyone looking for a Frig/freezer here is a Dometic "Classic" I have - the guy I bought the rv from put it in before he sat it up - new - then it sat for 3 yrs - so the only time its been used is when I hooked it up. Dometic has a web site or you can just type in the name and model and check it out - it was around a $1500 unit that is 110 v and can also run off propane - needs 12 v to control the circuit board. Also I have the 2 generators shown above - looking for diesel generators - pm me if interested - may be interested in other trades who knows ?
Took a vac day today as yesterday was in mid 70's - pretty much rained all day today.
Got the heater core systems installed - for some reason that someone else probably already knows - a system was backwards installing it - had to turn everything around - glad I had a diverter in my unit already - as the other unit in the kits we bought looked as if the heater lines come in from the passenger side ?
getting new duct tomorrow with both the shut off coolant valves.
Pulled the Tpub for wiring and the install of these system - gotta figure out where the power to the switch goes off the circuit breaker - everything is installed from scratch in 2 units minus coolant and valves/wiring (once I can figure that out)
During downpours got my upper roof rack finished and coated with bedliner coating - now to paint it with the Rapco paint we have.
Almost close enough to spin these 2 units around and get started on the fun stuff - the interior builds - these are going to be good quality interiors with oak trim and almost all piping will be out of sight including the electrical. More to come.
Have all but the heater power wire's to get hooked up to both of them.
made brackets for cables that were non existant to the diverter boxes - made brackets to hold the heater hoses solid in place in the engine compartment. Just ran to temp to make sure I had good flow and no leaks after the installs - now to find that power wire !! - No other circuit breakers came with the kits and these units never had heaters so I need to figure out how to hooked em up with cobbling anything together to cause a future problem.
Did get my outside box LED marker lights on to the lower side - need to wire them up now - all riveted on. These were the 2 in circular style.
If it were not for my slacker buddy (see thread on Really Really Bad Day today) you would know why this couch potatoe did not get much done.
Almost ready to spin em both around and start on the interiors
This time change sure screws getting out of work and getting something done.
Have parts coming from Saturn for the wiring to finish the HOT side of the heater systems installed - everything else on those is done.
Got the trucks spun around last night (did get the clutch adusted on #1 - did also find the crossshaft arm to the lever loose - good reason for checking out trucks more thoroughly before driving them.
Tore out the electrical boxes on #2 and will get them out of #1 tonight.
Will be cleaning up the protruding nuts/bolts from the front wall to install a prefabrication item - same as we will do with the walls 4 ' up. Have some flooring in #1 to repair and get his flooring cover laid this weekend.
Have the LED lights installed on #1 - too dark to take pics as I have no clue how my flash broke on the digital camera. Have circuit breakers and 24v switches coming for these as well - so it will be a while before pics of operation of these are taken - will take one of them on the truck though - they are sweet looking. Did weld the attachemet ends in case someone wants them, they have to break them.
Hopefully by Mon (taking Sat off from work) will have some updated pics to post.
If you are in decision mode - hold on for a couple weeks and watch what is going to be taking place inside them.
Double beds across the front with headboards timmed in OAK
down the aisle there will be 2 sets of drawers with a divider - did I mention in OAK trim.
WIll have to lift the mattress to access the left & right box under the bed as in front of each along the wall will be counters. Left side box will contain all the water components - right side will contain all the Fullriver Battery system (check out their site) with 3 DC105-12 ++ 12v 105AH/20hr batteries - these will be capabable of 24 v if needed -but main power for accessories in the back.
More than enough for 43 amp at 12 hr run time - charge off solar or generator.
that is a hint again for now - decisons decisions.
members on here have given me thougth on different funtions as well so they are just as to blame for that bad influence.
As you saw trucks were spun around to start the interiors.
Stripped the front wall and removed all the screws and 1/4 in riveted all the panels - even those with large spans in between screws . Mading it solid.
Removed all but the center window frames from the inside and added 14 ga steel (that is all will say about what quality of steel) over the windows and the front nose, as they will not be needed for the end project. The windows are just solid in place.
Moving on - a much needed reinforcement was added to the front wall with a 3/4 CD plywood outer layer to make the bed framework out of.
The roof a/c unit was cut out and placed
The roof 6x4 rack was installed with the aforementioned zerts.
Pulled the lenses from the marker lights and will paint the housings tomorrow as well as the rack bolts.
Have the license plate light housing to install tomorrow and duplicate everything onto truck #1 tomorrow.
Did remove the inner framework from all but the center windows and covered with the same reinforecement as the front nose of the box. Will just secure these windows from the exterior to not flip out.
ALso did remove all the screws from the center wire harness access panel to gain access to future install.
Just so all are up to speed - this is by myself with no help on 2 vehicles. What gets one to #1 gets done to #2.
In my spare time I did get in the defroster hoses and clamped in.
Thanks SD - not only doing 1 M109A3 truck - I am doing 2 - back to back.
Keep your eye on the future work - on a roll now with the interiors. There is a little difference in the 2 units but not much to this point.
Got the front corners of #1 truck ripped out as it was rotted. Will put that 19 ply that I used in mine to patch this in plus bedliner coat underneath.
Check out the photo of my buddies wounded right hand - ouch (check out earlier post of what happened) it was also his birthday today so I reminded him it was his present from me.
He worked on the electrical boxes in his and I stuck and zerted in my rack and laid out the a/c unit for cutting - did not cut yet.
Got his front wall all cleaned of screws - drilled and 1/4 riveted all holes plus secured in between their original screws where it was wavy.
Got the front reinforcement sheet up and will get 3/4 in plywood screwed onto this this week (under lights)
Got his marker lights on but not wired in - got his 4 front rack Trucklite LED lights on - also need to wire these in.
Got my #2 marker light housings painted (they were zinc plated) and will also stick the lenses back in in proper sequence and do all this wiring in one session.
Got the panels over all the windows except the center windows and these will be the only ones utilized for the build.
Did paint the rain caps also.
So far as the end of day today - both trucks are in the same stage (minus my LED lights which when my hardtop gets done at the body shop that CLINTO so graceously help getting back to me from the Ga Rally - I will ponder on what I want to build off the front box as a rack that will still maintain a dignified military appearance.
With the blocking of the 4 windows in each I thought about painted in pictures of POW MIA - and of the American flag once you would slide down the black out curtains - something very patriotic. If you have any input on this PM me as suggestions - they will NOT be anything but patriotic.
Another step closer.
