I have just finished replacing the wood and screening on the windows in my M183a3 ,not that bad of a job.Took the windows off and brought inside to the bench, about one hour per window. Now I wish I had pictures as it is really easy. Replacement wood was made for me by a guy at work who does cabinet work as his hobby.Screens are easier than wood with pet screen from Menards.

Body work has been going on with this unit - roof was probably the same as everyone else's. Wire brushed down to metal and was not concerned with "feathering" the paint just as long as the rust was gone. CARC will be here this week - been working on the interior today - do need to buy a hard top now - a huge branch shredded last night and filled the canopy with shrapnel. Did use Mil Spec rust protection on the cleaned area's - also will prime these area's before spraying.
Been waiting all week and have to wait another for the CARC so I can get busy painting .
Been measuring the box for the hydraulic tire jack and tools - so I can install my Onan 4KW generator here with a slide out for access. I would like to be able to save the exterior door of what is now there and add this to the finished product - so it all appears normal, including the step. But you would be able to unlatch the slide - and slide out the generator.
On top of that I have been looking for best prices on the cab original heater system and the box original heater system with the converter panel that was robbed to sell as extra items for the Gov. Watch - I will probably wind up buying the one that was removed from this truck and have to re-install it all piece by piece - what an irony.
zout,
You are an inspiration to all of us with a 109. What do you know about hard points in the walls? I am considering hanging heavy things off of strips for brackets.
Also, if I lift the bed up from the bottom in order to drive the truck out from under it, where can it be supported?
I hope this will not get me spanked on the forum - but here is my main source for data - install info that was stock on the 109:

From there I can see how it was built stock and what was needed. Thanks for the nods on the 109. The biggest thing of info are the wiring schematics that are readable here - will be a great aide in wiring the gen set.
Taping off this weekend and getting anxious for the paint to arrive - measuring off the box for a sliding gen set that will hopefully appear really close to stock configurations.
Heading over next weekend to get my buddies Marine 109 - mufflers are ordered for both units - my neighbors keep coming over and I am about to charge a toll to look - touch and ask questions besides costing them a beer just to show up.

Zout,
Don't know why you would think you would get "spanked" for making a TPUB reference, I think you are doing a great job! And TPUB is a great resource for manuals we don't already have here.
I will say that some people find it easier to download the PDF manuals from here Steel Soldiers :: Military Vehicles Supersite there are a lot of manuals that you might find helpful. This link goes to page 9 of the manual list where you can down load TM-9-2320-361-24-2 and the other two that go with that series.
If you want to start at the beginning of the manual listing go to the top of any SS forum page (I think you have to be logged in) and click Resources then Technical Manuals.
Now get to workin on your 109 and post yer results afor I have to to take you out behind the wood shed ... I need some new ideas for mine
