Those "pillboxes" are actually water storage tanks for fire fighting, the entire ridge route we took had them every mile or so, usually filled by a pipe from a cistern, bad news is it's been so dry here in So. Cali. that everywhere you go it's a tender box, I am sure you saw the fire in Griffith Park, over looking LA, well anyway its so dry because we havent had any rain this year, by now we usually have about 14" or so, and we have had only 4.5" so far, but then we are in a desert and it's supposed to be dry, guess thats why the put the tanks there....lol

I can say we had a great day on the trails, nothing so serious that the pinzies coulndt handel it, but let's say there was a lot of 2 and 3 wheeling going on that day, and by the looks of the rocks in the second pic we did quite a bit of articulating too, we look forward to hitting a few more trails this year and will post any pics we take for you all.
