Today I went to Canton Ohio to pick up a chain hoist from china freight for my impending transmission job I'm starting tomorrow. Since I was going up that way I figured I would call Adleman's Truck Parts and see if the had the clevis that connects to the remote control arm for the transmission, since mine is missing the locking ball and my clevis pin was almost ready to fall out on me last week.
I grabbed the clevis and pin, but while I was under the truck I noticed something interesting, I pretty good looking master cylinder and fairly new. I grabbed that also, I figure I'll buy a rebuild kit and have a freshly rebuilt one handy in case mine takes a crap.
I thought I would take the time and look at the other trucks they had and see if there were any goodies that I want to get for mine I could snag while I was there. I managed to get the placecards for my bridge plate that I didn't have before. And one thing I was really after was an alcohol evap kit, but no luck. Another was a heater, and I did find one of those, so I grabbed it up. What a PITA to strip it out of the truck to be able to reuse everything, but I did it. I will need to get two new control cables and a new master switch for it, but that's some of the easy stuff to find. The blower seems free and smooth, and the heater core still had some antifreeze in it, although I will take it to a radiator shop and have it cleaned, checked and tested for leaks.
I also wanted to buy sometime a low air pressure idiot light kit, I know they are cheap, but so am I!!! I figure I'm an electrician, adding (paralleling) a light to the buzzer is childs play, if I had the light and connectors...I DO NOW!!!
I also snagged a seperate master cylinder cap to permantly attach one to my pressure bleeder. Then when I went back to the counter to pay for my loot, I figured I would ask then about an old transmission input shaft to use for an alignment tool when I do my clutch this weekend. So I walked out of there with all kinds of good stuff and it only cost me $120 on the nose! I don't think I did too bad, considering I have seen other surplus dealers selling pulled heaters for $250! You can check out my goodies in the pictures. I know someone would ask if I didn't post some!!!!!

The Ole Stone Bucket weighs 69 tons, that trans must really be full of oil.
Looks like you got a real good deal and some much needed items. But how cheap can a guy be, the air warning kit is $6.50 new, did you look for some ABC gum under the seat?

When you hook up the heater, put the airscoop(in pic 5) on backward. It will keep water (and rust)out of your system
That is a really good idea, I will do just that. The squirrel cage in the fan looks to be pretty rusty, but I spun it by hand and it's free and seems pretty smooth. I might get lucky and be able to run it as is.

I'm so tight I squeek!!! I figured "a penny saved is a penny earned" I've been out of work since early April, so the dollars get stretched a bit. Plus I can't see giving anybody $6.50 worth of good US greenbacks for a light, "Y" connector, a piece of wire and a sticker for the dash. I got all of that stuff today for free!
Plus those seats were pretty ratty looking, I think the mice got to the gum before me.

I'm so mean, I had a dream of beatin' myself up. 'Broke my nose, I broke my hand, I wrestled myself to the ground and then, I choked myself to death and broke the choke, and woke up. Aaaarrrrrrgh. I'm mean. You know what I mean. If you know what I mean, you'll know what I mean! I'm mean! Meaner than... , I sure am mean. Yeah, mean. I'm meaner than that. You know what I mean. I'm so **** mean! I'm mean!
The bad part about the master cylinder cap is you can't install it with the power bleeder attached. Looks like a good haul
Already thought of that when I build the pressure bleeder. I put an air line coupler on the end of my hose, and used the male end on my original cap. Now that I have a spare cap, I can just leave the coupler on there all the time.
