Stopped by Zuckerman's Metals in Winchester VA today to follow up on a rumor of some S-250 shelters that were "stacked like cordwood" at the place. No dice, but there were two S-280 shelters in very nice shape there by the entrance. Asked politely how much, they said they are not for sale, they are to be scrapped. I mentioned that I had heard they were there for many years, hate to see them torn down for metal content, I would offer more. Still, "Not for sale".
Anyone know the owners of the place, possibly could convince them otherwise?

I have talked to scrappers about shelters and trailers and most of them tell me they are too much of a PITA to scrap due to the foam insulation between the inner and outer skins.
Maybe the guy just wants to hold them until someone offers a real high price.
