Paint Code

That must be right after aphid and poplar fluff season......looks natural if you mix it in the paint as you apply

This is the number from Endura with Low Gloss......... CLR 37692.

Here's an Ontario supply link
Endura Paint - Distributors -

The good thing about the Net is all that information.......The bad thing about the net is all that information.

Did a little 'google' search on "Paint code G749" and found this

Olive Drab YJ - JeepForum.com

Some good information is buried half way down the thread if you're looking for alternatives.

There's a few hundred links under Steel Soldiers but it adds to the confusion. I will link SuperDaves paint code for you.....real soon.

Another MVPA Honour

Last week the local MVPA was asked to display vehicles for the "1st Annual Edmonton Vimy Ridge Memorial Parade", April 15th 2012. """It was at Vimy, on April 9th, 1917, that all four Divisions of the Canadian Corps attacked simultaneously for the first (and last ) time"" Over 100,000 men took part in the battle.

""The Infantry attack was preceded by a powerful artillery bombardment which lasted almost three weeks, involving about a 1,000 guns, including huge, 15-inch howitzers.""
""By the afternoon three of the Canadian Divisions had captured most of Vimy Ridge. By the next day, Hill 145 was also in Canadian hands, leaving just a few isolated outposts. By April 12th these too had been taken and the Canadians' victory was complete"".

At the Vimy Memorial, carved on the walls are the names of 11,285 Canadians missing in France from the Great War. Over 7000 Canadians are buried in 30 War Cemeteries within a 16km radius of the Memorial. The number is high but understandable in when realizing the 200,000 Canadian, British, French and German dead who lie Buried on the Ridge from earlier attacks.

My Grandfathers Brother, Great Uncle Ralph Memorial: Private Ralph Crickmay Ewing - Canada at War gave his life in October of 1916 in the Vimy area so the M135 was not going to miss this opportunity to show her respect.

Typically we have a large MVPA showing. With the weather displaying the same attitude it did on April 9th, 1917 at Vimy, the show was moved from outdoors to indoors and only 3 brave Steel Soldiers sat outside waiting for some attention......and boy did they get it. As it turns out the "Special Guest"....our Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.... likes military vehicles and was escorted outside for a private MV viewing prior to the release of the cadets. With one of the MVPA boys in tow (name withheld), the group went outside while the rest of us watched the troops.

After the 'indoor cadet parade' the MVPA honour included lunch with the Lieutenant Governor in the officers mess. As lunch was ending, with escort, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta walked over and sat at our MVPA table to chat about the MV's. Although in the presence of a WWII 1942 Ford, His Honour, Col. (Ret'd) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell, OC OMM AOE MSC CD LLD............. talked mostly about the Deuce.

So in continued preservation of the M135, some pics.

Congrats and Kudo's to You, Yours and all who took the time to participate and appreciate the committments and sacrifices. People now tend to overlook what was an absolutely disgusting and miserable life for Soldiers ( and for many death) engaged in protracted Trench Warfare .
At the time the Canadian's technique of 'Walking the Artillery' with the Infantry closing in behind was unique. I'm glad folks enjoyed the trucks!

I'm hoping to host some active and retired Military personnel and their families this summer during our Police Association's Kid's Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Derby. For the the folks that bring a vehicle for display etc. I plan on extending an invitation to our Ranges and let them have a blast with our Thompson, Colt C-8's etc.

Old School vs New etc. The great part will be watching the Kid's wide eyed learning about a bit of REAL history first person. Not the usual crap on TV or XBOX.
To get a chance to see, touch, sit and ride in an MV will be something to remember!

Reading and seeing what you folks have been doing in your Community has been inspirational. On a sidenote, had the 52 M135 CDN out for a scoot with my Son and he was just beaming!....so was I truth be told lol!

MVPA Meeting

Every Saturday a few surprises show up at our weekly MVPA meeting.

This week it was a T-33, a goat and a perfect 43 ford.

The Aviation Museum was kind enough to open the back gate so we could stage and get a few pics.

A&W Friday Night

Every Friday night, for several years, the local car clubs hang out at the A&W, just like the old days. Everything from tuners to the classics, muscle cars to MV's.

Preserving those seals in the M135 means I'm forced to run the truck every Friday night. If you look close...you'll see an MV in each picture.

M135 Fridays

Affirmative Jwentz, lots of ongoing hours and Thank You.

In the best interest of Preservation, I once again lubricated the seals on the ten block trip to the local Hot Rod association Friday night stage.

This time a 26 year Vet ran over as I was pulling in and 'spotted' me as I backed into a stall. He had worked on Motor Pool Preventative Maintenance and knew the truck well. It is a little overwhelming seeing the guys 'well up' when talking about their experiences but lending an ear for an hour is something I can give back.

Also had one of the local MVPA boys tour his GPW? over while two others brought a snappy corvette and an amazing red, short box Ford. The MVPA kids collect more then green iron.

Once again, trying to keep with an SS theme, a bit of green in each shot. Enjoy the pics,

GMC Valve adjustment

It was time to set valves so SuperDave came over and wrenched on the 135 for an hour.
He set valves, replaced points, gapped plugs, played with carb, timing, fixed backwards coil, found bad water pump bearings, reminded me of the manifold crack.......all in an hour.

Then it took me almost a month to clean and paint the valve cover.

Thank God for Great Mechanics.

The inside of the valve cover was rusty so while soaking in varsol we wet sanded with
600 grit sandpaper. It cleaned up fast and anyone looking under the valve cover will see
their reflection.

Valve Cover Prep

After a quick prep on the valve cover with a wire wheel, being careful not to 'over-preserve', we wiped everything down with some 'reducer' after a varsol bath. The reducer removed all the oil and finger prints and it was ready for paint.

Using high heat Ford Grey we splashed on some paint and put everything back together.

Sounds awesome man! I can't believe how small the 302 looks in the bay. Can't wait to get my hands on that thing after driving mine. Folks we will be posting GMC races. 6.2 vs 302. I see you also use your bumper as a work surface! Good job to both Daves.
