The avatars here are limited to 160x160. The system then resizes them for display. This need not mean terrible detail.
Within reason, the 160x160 image can be worked on to provide more detail than normal under these circumstances.
In whatever graphics program is used, you must resize the image to the prescribed size or less. Usually you will downsize it.
Sharpen it before downsizing.
Once that is saved, As the final operation, sharpen the image again.
Then upload it. Your mileage may vary.

No, that's some unknown cat from the internet biting the @#$%! out of some female's arm. I've met very few, even feral ones, that would go to that extent (biting a whole arm) out of fear. She must have made that one really really mad (check the face!) - and is getting what she deserves! 10 points to the cat for good dental penetration. Dunce award to the human there for teasing/tormenting an animal. BTW cat's can't see what they are biting because of the way their eyes are set so they rely on coordination for catching prey and killing it. Notice it is not looking at the bite, but at the prey. Also the ears are only slightly back and not folded down, and the whiskers are out to the sides and not folded back, so it is not afraid, but instead angry.
