20,000 pound capacity?

I was reading a back issue of MV Magazine on the pros and cons of owning a deuce. The author said you could safely carry 20,000 pounds. Anybody ever put this to the test or should you just stick with 10,000? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_idea.gif" alt="Idea">

The truck is rated at offroad 2 1/2 tons and highway is 5 tons. Even the military did not recommend putting more than that in it.

yeah but the military also like a big saftey factor. they figure some of the poeple might not know any better like the 135 HP thats not cuz it fit thats so no one hurt them selfs. with 10,000 pounds you probably cant break anything. im sure you could do 20,000 just prolly not very far or long

I can personaly vouch that the Deuce' is completely happy at the 5 ton mark, as evidenced by our recent trip to the rock quarry

THe load we took prior to that was a bit heavier by a couple hundred pounds, and aside from needing a little more braking distance, it didn't even flinch

Heh, that time I had my camera, the previous trip, we tipped the scales at just over 21K

Thanks to our deuce' we did what would have taken 10 trips with a pickup in just two trips.

When y'all hit 25K then I'll be VERY impressed! But then again I'm used to pulling 80K with the big boys(y'know 18 wheels....). I just can't wait to get a 5 ton wrecker and REALLY play around here in the winter when the ice storms hit!($$$$$$$$)<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink">
