hood numbers and history?

I know there was a guy in the deuce forum that had access to vin/reg # database or has acquired the history re: truck use.. Is there such a resource in the CCKW realm?
I'm curious about the build/use histroy of the '45 GMC fire truck featured in the previous thread:

The information is not available to me for that far back. The vehicle had to be in use in the 1970;s and had to be inputted into the system.

thanks guy, was just trying to figure out if that fire truck was issue or site built. I suppose the data plate would give a clue..

I would also like to find a database for serial #'s for early CHEV trucks. Also just general info on early Chev MV's. Now that I have one, looking to find out all that I can about them.
