First thanks for adding your signature<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up"> In simple terms its the same as power brakes (vacuum) on your car. But it uses positive pressure instead of negetive<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_wink.gif" alt="Wink">

standard brakes just use vacuum from the engine to a power brake booster that eases your pedal effort. They'll still work in your car without the vacuum, but it will be harder. If this air system feels you lose most of the brakes, good luck stopping the truck if you're at any sort of speed and without your e-brake
