Would the multi weight motor oils be ok to use in the Deuce? (10/30, 10/40, 20/40, 20/50) Its not real easy to find straight 30wt.

Also would any Brand be ok? (Rotilla, Castrol, Pennzoil, exct.)

Or maybe 10/40 Mobil 1 full synthetic?? What actuall did the Army use, 30wt.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_dork.gif" alt="Dork">

LD,

We had no trouble getting 30W from our local Advance Auto Parts store. We used Shell Rimula 30W, and according to the back of the jug, it's a straight-across compatible for milspec oil

LD;
Shell Rotella T 15W-40 has the best formula for suspending soot particles. I use it all the time. It too is milspec.

We use Rotella 15-40 all year round in our fire trucks here in Wyoming. Of course we have them all in heated garages all the time. But it is a great oil and we get as cold as minus 10 every year and once in awhile we get down to minus 30 or 40 below. In 1979 we were minus
30 for over 30 days. And when it is that cold we run diesel additive so it will not gel and we leave the engines running all the time in the field - or until we put them back into the
heated garage.

I agree the Shell Rotella 15-40 you can't go wrong with as thats what my Cummins engine gets in my pickup, i wouldn't think of using anything else, so if its good enough for the cummins i feel confident that it will work wonders in the deuce

I put on over 1 million miles on my semis (4&1/4 Cats with 13 over) with Rotella in Wisconsin winters and Texas summers. I believe in it.
