bridge plate mounting on M35A2?

I got my bridge plate yesterday but am confused at how it mounts- it came with an l-bracket that presumably goes on the bottom back, and appears to rest on one of the flat crossbars of the grill, then the strap goes on the backside and long bolts go from the plate to the strap? Is this right:

if so, then it appears I need to drill two hole in the flat crossbar? I don't want to do that, so is it OK to just mount the l bracket and rest it on the crossbar, then use the strap to hold it on?

thanks!

cool, thanks. I got to looking and that l-bracket must be for the CUCV, not for my app. Cool, I'll just use the strap <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

The angle piece is used for bumper mounting. There was also and alternate method of mounting this using the right fender.
