Despite the heat, wrong parts ordered ect I put my 69 duece clutch and transmission back in yesterday. Lots of stuff to correct along the way. Floorpan bent up under gas pedal not giving me enough pedal travel, clutch clevis pin had nothing retaining it from falling out, Throttle pivot 3 threads away from loosing the nut and falling out, clutch bellcrank arm indexed wrong on the splines, missing bolts from rear U-joint flange on xfer case, Lots of other stuff fixed to make it solid again. I took it for a drive and man it felt good. I seem to have a little more get up and go as my pedal now travels down to the bump stop like it should. Or should I say the bump stop is lower from the floor pan being corrected. I am glad to get it on the road again. Now I only have one rig down and not running...

Yes, I am glad... I wanted to drive it today but never made it home last night... Convincing girlfriend.... I used a cherry picker inside the passenger door. I used an engine leveler bolted to the tranny cover to give it the right angle. Pretty much went right in. The engine leveler was rubbing against my heater box under the dash though.. No big deal. I cut some guide bolts to get it to line up better. I actually had the tranny and new clutch in in 1.5 hours. The remaining 4.5 hours was fixing alot of small stuff that was not right. I think it's turning into a solid rig now... I can sure tell the difference in how it drives and stops... AT...

Thats exactly how I've done mine in the past. Toss the tranny on a dolly and roll it under where the spare tire isn't then hoist it up with the crane. I've also used the comealong with a 4x4 across the cab front to rear. These days I use the military designed trans lift that sits on the floor of the cab. Its way cool and really wasn't that much money. Bought it on Ebay for around $90.
Love it!

I was thinking about welding up an A frame that has a telescoping rail up top to move the tranny back and forth. Probably need to install a leveling mechanism to keep the angle correct.. But for 90 some odd bucks? Sounds worth it...
