I like it. Is the tailgate cut in or is it factory? Could be a M38A1C recoilless rifle carrier if the tailgate opening is really nice. You also have the fording kit valves. The serial is also on a data plate on the RH sponson right behind the passenger seat.

I'm suspicious your M38A1 was once NAVY? did you check the block for for the serial #? Its located on the flat plain under the thermostat inlet of the head directly behind the waterpump engraved on the horizontal surface of the engine block...... should start with an MD xxxx (Military) or RMDxxxx (Remanufactured Military )

also, you can wet sand the passenger side hood portion to reveal the vehicle # and wet sand the rear and front bumper for designation ref.

It has been sanded and repainted many times, civy # on block:cry:engine has been replaced going to find one in worse shape for parts. I was told it was a 1955 who knows now
