for those who have them, particularly those that upgraded at a later date, what do you think of the hardtop? Many pics I have seen show them with rust and that turns me off. Not only cause the rust but because they look really heavy

can you get them on and off easy or is it better just to use the soft top if you plan to do that?

thanks

Look at my site and at the updates I've done to 'Storm: www.jordansgovsurplus.5u.com . I converted from a rag top to steel top. Personally I love it. I have a quieter cab interior, am not prone to leaks from the rain, retain the heat from the heater much better and allow the defroster to do it's job more effectively and can better insulate the cab to reduce the noise level from the engine. There is some surface rust I'm taking care of too but I got a good deal on the top. It's not that heavy and bolts in with relative ease. I recommend them to whomever wants to put one on.

im going to buy the hardtop for my truck. i had the top off all summer cause the old one ripped. the ripps started from tree branches and kept getting worse. its so bad i cant even put the old top back on. i got a quote of $350 for a hard top from the TNJ Murray company in dover deleware. its a take off unit thats not rotted.

Big Mike;
Get it at that price!!! Hard tops are getting very expensive now a days. I paid $250 and the top was somewhat smashed in. I used my rubber mallet to bang it back into shape. I still need to work on it. Yet I found the physical pounding of sheet metal theraputic in a barbaric sort of way...........

That is true, 90% of the hard tops you see the top is caved in. One common thing is to see the GIs throw the camo net and packs and stuff on top of them and cave them in. I prefer the soft tops myself.

Guys!

I will stick with the rag top! I like the option of installing a "MA DEUCE" with a ring mount!

im definately gonna buy the top, im thinking of ridin down there in a week or so, before my disability time off runs out. the guys at tnj murray have alot of good stuff. their not as cheap as saturn surplus, but they have alot of stuff that saturn doesnt have.
the last time i was there jerry was selling brand new winch cables in a crate complete with the hook and chain already attached for $200.00. they also ship world wide.

We've got a cloth top, no complaints about it yet, then again, winter hasn't set in yet, so that may change depending on what our tollerence for cold is

when I lived in Colorado the heater with the soft top kept me nice and toasty down to about 10 degrees, below that it started to get pretty cold. Don't have to worry about that anymore, it's 10PM and 70 degrees outside.
