How does that auction work like if you bid, and how do you know where to go and buy them/pick them up. Also why are they all so cheap. Thanks, Dominic

You pick the truck up where you bought it.

the GL auction but i dont see any M818's in fort meade but they all say 150 bucks

It is really simple. Make an appointment at the post where the items are located, pick out all the trucks you want, pay the $150 each and go! Make sure you have enough drivers to move your fleet.

ha ha check the brakes but how do you get tags and stuff do you they give you titles and you just go there and buy them or do you still have to bid

150$ is the starting bid. goes way up from there. prices very...you order the title after you have won the item. titles cost 60$ and it takes about a month to get the correct paperwork which then you have to go to your DMV and turn the paperwork into a title. you get temp tags for when you recover it.

like they give you temps at the dmv and then go and pick it up but all the prices are all at 150 buck

because they havent started to bid yet...thats just starting bid. the auctions are posted 1-3 weeks before they are actually started which are usually on tuesdays and end on thursdays so you can go preview them which i HIGHLY recomend. then the prices will go up for the first 2 days and on the last day they sky rocket. m818's end between 3-5k

Again, the $150 is the "Starting" bid. It'll go up from there, sometimes considerably.

It's an auction, if you could go down to the yard and pick it up for $150, my yard would be full of trailers (and other vehicles) right now...

Yes. Do alot of reading here about GL and you'll learn the process and the ins and outs of buying from GL.

Lots of hoops to jump through - nothing will be $150. Bid - if you win - bid + buyers premium + tax + correct paperwork submission - months later - pick up truck or have picked up - pay for title - wait. If all goes well - you may or may not have gotten a operable truck. Thats why they are less - sometimes.

It's a gamble and more of a hassle - thats why you can sometimes come out paying less.

Anything you buy sight unseen is a crap shoot....that being said I have bought over 20 trucks from GL and only got one with a bad engine (the M816 wrecker). At the price I got it for I expected that it would be rough.

If I had to do over again I would have waited and got a better one closer to home. Shipping can eat your lunch fast.

From what I have seen a lot of the trucks coming out of Meade have bad rust issues...I would not buy from there without a preview.

If you are serious you can set up an account with GL and watch auctions....go in the night the auction starts and put the minimim bid on all the trucks you are interested in...you will be outbid almost immediatly. Once you do that they will be in your bid history and you can follow the bidding see what they sold for after the auction ends.

If you have inspected one and want to continue to bid on it wait until the last few hours of the auction to put in an AUTOBID of your top dollar amount you are willing to spend (include the 10% buyers premium, tax and estimated recovery costs).

Don't get into a bidding war....there will be other trucks...if you spent too much you will end up with a bad case of "buyers remorse".

If you win your paperwork will sometimes take longer than an existing customer. They will debit your credit card, or expect money transfer, as soon as you are the confirmed winner.

The EUC may take several weeks to clear and then you will have to arrange with the site to pick it up. If, for some reason, your EUC doesn't clear they will refund your money at their own speed.

Once your EUC clears you have a limited time to remove your property. They won't work around your schedule......they will give you an appointment and expect you to be there. If you are not a DOD contractor or have some type of military ID to get you on base you will have to wait at the gate for an escort from GL. Some bases require that even if you have an ID.

Sometimes you are better off to buy from a private party that will let you examine and drive the truck before you buy. I may cost you a few more bucks but convienence has it's cost.

So what happens if nobody bids? Do you get a truck for $150? That's a great deal, even for a nonfunctioning truck. Surely people buy them to part them out right? Will they let you tow something like a Deuce off the auction site with another Deuce?

I've also wondered why everything from trucks to bicycles are all $150.

If nobody bids & you place a last minute bid for $150 do you get the truck that cheap? Are you guaranteed to be the winner or will they say "sorry" that's too cheap to let it go?

I have not seen ANY trucks go for minimum bid. That should be the LEAST of your worries, but yes, I would imagine you would get it. I know a guy that got a killer trailer for his 818 for $400.

Well if nobody bids they relist the item. If you are the only bidder you get it for $150. I've bought some trailers for $150 but I've never seen a truck sell for that (ie, you will never get a deuce for $150 if I know about it ). The big scrap dealers are always watching the auctions and won't let stuff go too far below scrap value. You can watch the price of scrap and the rougher trucks will go up and down in relation to the price of scrap.
