Are you sure the pump is dead? There is a fuse in the top cover (cover with three nuts securing it)that many people don't know about. If you need a new one they are usually in the $250+ range....

Sometimes those things come apart inside the tank but they will work again if you just put all the part back together and peen over the end. We do this all the time with our fire
dept. deuces. The check to see if it is working, just put on the switch and open your primary filter petcock(s) and if it pushes fuel out and fills up the filter canisters when you close the petcock(s), the pump is working. They really seem to take a beating and keep on ticking.

Heres a shocker, with all this talk about fuel pumps I decided to check mine a few weeks back.
When I pull the top off to check the fuse I did'nt have one <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shock.gif" alt="Shock"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shock.gif" alt="Shock"><img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug"> So I put one in but the pump still did'nt work<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_sad.gif" alt="Sad"> I took it apart, hooked up some power to it and started tapping with a hammer<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_smashpc.gif" alt="Smash PC"> Well it finally came to life<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_big.gif" alt="Big Smile"> So I'm confused I've been driving around for two years without a pump, am I just lucky or is there no need for the tank pump?

Hmm, maybe somebody added some alcohol to keep the fuel from gelling <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">
We were in the process of restoring a halftrack and after removing one of the fuel tanks found a empty .50 cal casing from 1944.
Now when my deuce fuel pump went out, I had no trouble until I let it sit for about three weeks. It lost it's prime and was a mutha to start after that until I replaced the pump.

OK here the news on the dead fuel pump in the tank
took it out and left it out the part of the pump and the gut of the pump, that mean no pump in the tank. the new one went on the outside, like shown in the photo <img src="http://www.darkraven.us/PICT0249.JPG" border="0">
