Is it possible to modify axles on a deuce (that is running 9x20s) to take 14x20 single tires and wheels (like newer 5 tons), or is it best to swap in 5 ton axles?

Just curious about what parts are needed.

member "hot rod deuce" can help best, as he's modified his to accept 16x20's <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

but, stock they won't fit. You'll need custom springs and longer bogie arms, and a longer driveshaft at the least. That's the main stuff, the front axle can probably stay in the same spot, get longer spring packs, or at least a couple longer leaves to combine with your old spring packs (might not hurt with that extra lift), custom driveshaft, and lengthen or fabricate new bogie arms. New longer brake lines may be needed for the rear axle.

Probably need wider custom wheels as well

ah yeah what he said, a little lift is very desirable if you plan to try out the articulation. im at about 3 inches on the box and cab. the main reason was to get a bigger radiator to fit but you could revamp the inner fenders and box cross members also for some mean flex. here are some pics in the early stages if you might be interested let me know and i can make and supply you all or a few of the parts needed. fabrication is still requred at this point in development.

-the pics were taken AFTER the tire/wheels swap and in the first few days of the 5.9 ATAAC cummins swap with a fairly large mess around
