Hey Guys,
As most of you know I've been working on trading my deuce for something a little smaller. Thanks to Recovry4x4, I met a guy named George from East TN with a Mog who was looking to trade too. We met up this weekend and deal is sealed. I traded my M35A2 w/w and my Pioneer Tool Trailer for a 1970 Unimog 404 S Radio Truck (Funkwagen to the Germans). Here's an old photo of the truck:

I'll post some new ones when I tow it home in a few weeks. It runs and drives great, but that heavy radio box would make for a long drive in the WV mountains. Plus, I want to check it over real good before any long hauls. Here's some photos of the goodies that came in the trade:

A swingfire heater that heats the radio box and is used to melt ice, preheat the engine, etc...

A humvee 24v Warn winch and mounting plate. I'm going to mount it to the front of the 404 until I can afford a PTO setup

More details later. This is a dream come true. I've been wanting a Mog ever since the first time I saw one

Steelsoldiers-

Nice trade there! I am like you and have always liked the look of the Mogs. Good luck getting it home.

Thanks 1075! It should be a good haul coming home. There are some 7% grades coming back. That should give the ol' Cummins a workout. The Mog weighs in at about 8500 with the radio box on the back! The trailer will weigh about 3k. That's a hefty combo. I was gonna haul it home this weekend, but the fella's trailer brakes weren't working! That would have been real bad to find out they quit on one of those 7% grades. If I can't find a top notch trailer, I might just pay to have it hauled. It ain't worth getting killed over.

Mogs are cool. I remember my first mog back in the early 70's. It was a civy version 404 that was yellow. It was the greatest vehicle in my Matchbox collection. As I've grown I've become increasingly disinterested in foreign vehicles to the point that I want to run them over. I've never gotten over the Mog though. Recent years have led me to want a Volvo Laplander as well. Chris, I'm glad my lead worked out for you. I'll guarantee this. Once you go wheelin in the Mog, you will be addicted. Not the greatest mud vehicles but on dirt trails and hills, they kick butt. My finders fee is going to be a long drive in the Mog!

Steelsoldiers. It is a very nice truck and can go allmost everywere. I hope you enjoy it. Is this a gas truck? Last year I was about to buy a gas 404 Radio truck but I didn't made it. Now I have to rebuild my sorry looking 411 diesel. Unimogs are very common and VERY chip in Greece.

Well everyone, I guess Chris has finally gone uptown on us! LH was right. Give a guy some fame and fortune and he goes Mercedes Funkengroovin' on us. It looks like a really cool set-up! I wish we could join you at the rally. Unfortunately we're headed toward Houston, TX area before summer is out. This means 'Storm will have moving duties all summer long.
