Only XM-706/V-100 in private ownership

For your viewing pleasure, this XM-706 we restored three years ago and has a very happy owner. It is the only early model we know of and certainly in private hands. We love before and after photos....

The studs were for mounting experimental add-on armor for the Venezuela army contract.

Do you mean there is only one V100 in private hands, or that particular variation?
Bill, this is a very early version of the V100.

Major items of note are the turret (look particularly at the area around the mantle, and the hatch angle), the squared off wheel wells, one-piece rear door, no side door for the engine bay, etc..
Detail differences would take all day to list.

Privately owned V100's can roughly be accounted for using the fingers and toes of one person, V's of this type with one finger.

Have to agree with Rory on this. The V100 we have at the museum is different than the one in this thread.....plus we have battle damage on ours from Vietnam. Guess that makes it even more unique.

I don't know the unit that ours came from. I do know that it hit an anti-tank mine blowing the front axle off of it and cracking the hull over the passengers side fuel tank. The unit was brought back to the states (as suprising as that is), repaired and used for years as a security vehicle at a nuclear facility in Nevada.

Very nice work indeed!

I notice that your V's and most others I see have the rear intercom box mounted on the back of the wheel well. In mine, the mount was actually on the rear hull wall, have you seen any others like that?
