I'll be making an 850 mile round trip in my M185 over the next week. Is there anything "special" that I should do to prep the truck?

[4]Yeah, there's a ton of stuff! I'm going to touch on just a couple. First and foremost, check that brake fluid. If your 185 still has silicone, make sure you take some. Take a tire chock just in case you lose the E-Brake cable and for extra assurance if you park the truck on a hill. Take some spare bulbs and a headlamp. Some of this stuff you can get at Napa but not the 24 hr Walmart. Mostly just common sense. If it's not readily available, take it! If the truck quits going it's no big deal compared to if it quits stopping. Check that brake fluid. Did I mention that you should check the brake fluid too?[/4]

Oh yeah the brake fluid can come in handy. Plus with that 185, if she has a sprag I'd be very tempted to drop the front driveshaft to save fifth gear from excessive wear. metal shavings in the tranny is not a good omen for anyone. Also have some emergency triangles and if possible a cell phone and/or CB radio to hopefully gain some help if things go wrong. Prayer never hurts either!

That's right! DR make a good point there. I never ever travel without the Almighty! The old cliche of "a wing and a prayer" kinda hold true here but we've got no wings!

Deuce Wranglers!

If you are a little short on the "wing" part of "a wing and a prayer", then make sure that you bring more prayer!

Makes sense to me!

I've got 1.5 gallons of the purple fluid. Checked and topped off all the fluids. Have an air engauge frnt end so no sprag, yes?? Made an altar to "Our Lady of Perpetual Motion" with left over engine rebuild parts. Anointed the driveway with 80w-90. and did I mention that I have 1.5 gallons of silicon brake fluid?

Pappa-G!

Make sure that the 80W-90 wasn't anointed by a leak!
