Source for amber tinted headlights? Are they even legal?

I've seen a few SSers with the amber colored headlights floating around here. What's the best source for them?

On a separate note, are they even legal to use in the state of Virginia, where I live? If a no answer to this question applies to me, then it makes no difference where to get the headlights...

Try the HEC "euro trash" housing with the yellow bulbs or yellow covers... I would never own another type of light housing after having these!!!

Can anyone tell me a source for just the yellow tinted bulbs and not the glass tinted headlight? H4 fitting

Virginia VC for reference, I didn't find anything specific on Amber permitted headlights, didn't find any reference to White only either. Maybe a Fed Requirement.. White only Primary forward headighting?

Headlights are regulated by the US DOT and, no, amber is not legal. That said, it's all in how fussy the law enforcement is in all hte areas into which you may drive and whether the guy doing you annual safety inspection picks up on it compared to your willingness to risk it.

Amber lights offer less illumination and narrow beam euro style reflectors are a big disadvantage in twisting road and off road situations. Why pay for a degradation in visibility and a less safe vehicle?

As for a Source, there was someone on here that was having white ones coated. Guess they are holding up, I dont know I did not buy any.

Before the big "gun truck" craze hit, I was buying them up everywhere I could so I have a few that I am sitting on. I did slip some info to a couple of gun truck builders on who still had some but what I have now are for my Gun Truck that I am building and spares. They are actual Wagner bulbs.

Thanks to Kenny who also sent me a set, those are going on my 5 ton Wrecker.

No I have not driven the truck at night. I am not usually gone too far from home so me running at night has not happened yet.

The guy who is selling them is Ziggy-O on this site. They are nice, I put a set in Aces & Eights after Gilbert, PA show this Sept. Not bad for price either. JT out

Dave it was a NATO/Euro thing for foggy weather.

Freightrain had a bunch of them but getting him to turn them loose was like trying to take a porkchop bone from a starving dog.
